APL-001 and APL-002 are natural compounds identified from traditional Chinese herb medicine.  APL-001 and APL-002 increase STATs-mediated cytokine activity by preventing STATs dephosphorylation.  They promote proliferation of white blood cells in animal models after cancer drug or radiation treatment.  APL-001 and APL-002 will be used to treat leucopenia.  They can also be used in combination with IFNs to treat hepatitis and other viral infections.
